Fuck the military. Their a bunch of homophobic assholes in the biggest cliche in human history. Look at Abu Ghraib. They’ll call anyone who blinks a fag, but then they’ll strip a bunch of dudes down, piss on them, and take pictures.

Hey look, there’s plenty of honorable people in the military, and some folks feel they have no choice but to join just to have work or whatever. It’s just too bad that they have to go to war no matter how stupid the commander in chief is, and that the center-right media cheerleaders shout down all criticism of war policy and military culture as treasonous, and the Pentagon will fight recognition of AGent Orange poisoning and Gulf War Syndrome. If it was up to the supposedly traitorous progressive left, no one would be on their third or fourth tour, and there would be plenty of health care for the next generation of PTSD Timothy McVieghs and Gulf War Syndrome sufferers. Bush has supported the troops for shit.

Sorry, Jim. I wasn’t trying to offend anyone.

You can say whatever you want, I agree with your sentiments about military culture, as well as this post’s. I do think it’s important to make the distinction though between the Pentagon and the poor schleps on the front line asking themselves why they’re there again.

…adding it’s obviously more complicated than my glib response, my only point being, some military folks are trying to help, or just doing a job, whereas others are repressed homosexual Christianist frat boys with one foot in Heaven and a finger on the trigger. And some of THOSE people are generals, setting tone and leading by example and so forth. The finger of blame should get pointed up the chain of command is all I’m saying; if we could wrest the command structure from the whackjobs, it’d go a long way towards fixing problems like Abu Graib, religious harrassment, and the like. And of course the buck goes all the way to the tippy top.
